News from Dylan (KST International)
Bob Dylan's new album «Rough and Rowdy Ways» is an avalanche, a maelstrom of allusions and references to literary, cultural and societal events, of words and sounds found by the wayside and in libraries. A work of some weight, a highlight in the long career of this singer/songwriter and recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature who has influenced the world since the beginning of the Sixties. An unexpected album it is, too, since Dylan hadn’t released any new music of his own in almost a decade, preferring instead to pay tribute to the Great American Songbook. In our first international episode of the Kulturstammtisch, we discuss Bob Dylan’s long-awaited and surprising new album «Rough and rowdy ways». An album full of allusions and references and name-dropping, which Eric Facon discusses with Canadian cultural historian Marcy Goldberg who is based in Zurich and the Swiss recording artist and specialist in all things americana Hank Shizzoe.
